Farm Market Table

Area foodies are invited to join the Great Barrington Farmers Market for a Farm Market Table, a night of storytelling at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, April 27th at 5PM.

Celebrated chefs, farmers, local food heroes and area residents will share stories about the power and purpose of food. Featured will be special guest storyteller, best-selling author and food activist Julia Turshen. Turshen has collaborated with celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Dana Cowin to co-author their cookbooks. Under her own name she released Small Victories in 2016 and Feed the Resistance in 2017 which went beyond recipes to serve as a tool for activism and building community.

Most recently she has written Now & Again: Go-To Recipes, Inspired Menus + Endless Ideas for Reinventing Leftovers, a cookbook that includes both personal essays and recipes. In the spirit of a true storyteller, Turshen illustrates the chapters of her life through 20 themed menus. The “Red-Checkered Tablecloth Late Saturday Lunch,” for example, touches on her shift from a city dweller to a country denizen with recipes such as 'Garlic and Anchovy Butter Toasts' and 'Italian Flag Baked Pasta.'

All proceeds from the Farm Market Table will benefit its nutrition assistance programs, which double SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market checks throughout the market season. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale with special pricing available. For more information and to buy tickets please visit the link below.

The Farm Market’s organizers believe that everyone deserves access to fresh local food. It encourages a resilient and equitable local food system and creates opportunities for farmers.

The Farmers Market is a 29-year-old producer-only market, located every Saturday from 9AM-1PM at 18 Church Street. It operates from Mother’s Day weekend through October.
